When an order changes

What happens in Odoo when the lines of an already-synced order change.

What is detected

The connector compares the old order lines with the new ones and detects: a product added, a product removed, a quantity change, a product or variant change, a price change, and a discount-only change.

No change means no action

If the connector finds no difference it does nothing at all. The Odoo sales order is untouched and no note is written.

Orders still at quotation stage

If the Odoo sales order is still a draft or a quotation, the lines are simply replaced.

Confirmed orders are cancelled and re-confirmed

If the sales order is confirmed and the conditions allow, the connector runs a full cycle: cancel the order, replace every line, set it back to draft, then confirm it again. That is a substantial change to a live document in Odoo — know that it happens.

There is a rollback path

If something fails midway through the cycle, the connector attempts to restore the previous lines and re-confirm. If the rollback itself fails, the order is flagged for manual handling.

Everything is logged in Odoo

The connector writes a log note in the Chatter on the sales order summarising exactly what changed. That is where you look to find out what happened and why.

The feature can be switched off

If you do not want sales orders modified automatically after creation, line updating can be disabled. Contact technical support to set that.
